"🔥 Mavs & Warriors Make NBA History with 48 3-Pointers as Klay Thompson Shines in Bay Comeback 🏀💥"

Mavs, Warriors Combine for Record 48 3s with Klay Thompson Back in the Bay 🎮🏀🔥
A Heartfelt Return to the Bay Area 🏞️❤️

Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson made the most of his trip back to the Bay Area, revisiting old East Bay neighborhoods, having dinner with friends, and reminiscing about his days in Oakland. He even drove by former haunts like downtown Oakland and the Oakland Arena, previously known as Oracle Arena.

"It was very surreal," Thompson shared about facing his old team, the Golden State Warriors. "Because I was 21 years old when I came here, and to see The City and The Town is always special. So many good memories."

This time, Thompson’s return was much more settled as he delivered a stellar performance for the Mavericks in their 143-133 victory over Golden State.
A Historic Night for 3-Pointers 🏀🔥

Thompson contributed 29 points, shooting 7-of-11 from beyond the arc in a game that set an NBA record with the Warriors and Mavericks combining for 48 three-pointers. Warriors coach Steve Kerr reflected on the unprecedented game:

"I'm not sure I've ever seen a box score like this. We go 27-for-54 from 3, 39 assists, 10 turnovers, and it felt like we were never really in the game. It’s a modern NBA… it’s a different world."

Despite the Warriors’ 27 three-pointers, they couldn’t contain Luka Doncic, who racked up an impressive 45 points, 13 assists, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.
Thompson Shines in His Role ✨

Thompson capitalized on his opportunities, receiving a warm applause from the Chase Center crowd. He shot 9-of-14 overall and looked far more comfortable than his emotional return in November. Reflecting on his second go-round, Thompson remarked:

"Way easier. Especially not seeing all the captain’s hats. I saw a few of those. Much easier. Felt more settled in than the first time I was out here."

The last time the Mavericks visited Golden State, Thompson was honored for his contributions to the Warriors, a team he helped lead to four NBA championships. Employees and fans greeted him with captain’s hats, a nod to his love of sailing, which set the tone for a sentimental night.
Warriors Seek Answers as Mavericks Surge 🔄

While Dallas has won 12 of its past 14 games, the Warriors have struggled, losing eight of their last 10 after a promising 12-3 start. Golden State is looking to bolster its lineup, acquiring point guard Dennis Schroder in a recent trade. Schroder is expected to join the team following his physical and first practice on Tuesday.

For Thompson, adjusting to life on the Mavericks includes facing his former teammate and longtime "Splash Brother" Stephen Curry. The pair made history again on Sunday, becoming the first duo in NBA history to make seven-plus 3-pointers in a game both as teammates and as opponents.

"It’s different, but I am getting more accustomed to it each time we face each other," Thompson said. "You always cherish the moments you get to face the best players. It’s cool I get to say I guarded Steph like I guarded Kobe [Bryant] and KD [Kevin Durant]. It’s another story I get to tell."

The two will meet again in February for another thrilling matchup, first in Dallas and later in San Francisco. 🏀🎮
